Private sector and peace

Archived research theme
Business people in a meeting

Development work is mostly done by charities and not-for-profit organizations, with the private sector often seen as incompatible with this kind of work. In reality, private sector involvement can be a positive thing for peace and development, bring security and autonomy to regions that have undergone conflict and instability. SIPRI aims to bridge this percieved incompatibility by identifying potential paths for cooperation between private companies and the development sector, and understanding the challenges and opportunities on either side.
