Transport Service Providers

This project brings together public and private sector stakeholders to explore the challenges, risks, opportunities and good practice associated with engaging transport sector (maritime carriers, freight forwarders, fast parcel operators and port operators) as a counterproliferation partner. It focuses on the mutual benefits these partnerships can have on the effective implementation of proliferation-related United Nations Security Council resolutions and strategic trade controls. The project will explore a range of key issues including national and international legal environments, the sharing and use of data, and the identification and interdiction of consignments of proliferation concern.

This work aims to:

• Raise awareness of the role played by TSPs in proliferation supply chains and how they can be supported to reduce proliferation risks through briefings, meetings and presentations to key stakeholders;

• Promote counterproliferation related risk mitigation activities and self-regulation through dialogue and workshops with TSPs and government stakeholders in Asia and the Middle East;

• Develop good practice guides through dialogue and workshops with TSPs and government stakeholders in Asia and the Middle East; and

• Promote government–TSP information sharing through workshops and through good practice guides.
