Dr Michal Krelina

Dr Michal Krelina is an Associate Senior Researcher with the SIPRI Armament and Disarmament Programme, specializing in quantum technology. As a consultant, analyst and strategist, he focuses on the security and defence applications of quantum technology. Dr Krelina is also a research scientist at the Czech Technical University in Prague. His professional interests span mapping quantum technology military applications, exploring its roles in future conflicts, developing quantum countermeasures, assessing quantum technology risks and threats, examining the convergence of quantum and classical cybersecurity, and studying the impact of quantum technology on international security and peace research.

Dr Krelina has held various professional positions, including quantum security expert at the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA), and is a co-founder of the Quantum Security and Defence Working Group. He has also provided consulting services to organizations—such as NATO SACT, NATO JAPCC—and various defence, law enforcement and governmental agencies. With a PhD in experimental nuclear physics, Dr Krelina completed postdoctoral research at UTFSM in Chile and Heidelberg University in Germany.
