SIPRI releases its Annual Review 2018, taking a retrospective look at the Institute’s highlights from the previous year.
Throughout 2018, SIPRI has maintained its commitment to identify and understand the evolving risks to security and opportunities to build and sustain peace through objective analysis.
Particular areas of focus in this regard are the Institute’s work on newly emerged technologies, a knowledge partnership which examines the linkages between conflict and food security, and the expanding programme on local perceptions of security in the Sahel and West Africa.
Along with key dialogue events such as the fifth annual Stockholm Forum on Peace and Development and the third Stockholm Security Conference, SIPRI continued to engage a diverse international audience and provide a platform to discuss evolving threats. In this spirit, SIPRI organized the inaugural SIPRI Lecture on the theme ‘Is the World on the Road to Peace or War?’ which was delivered by HE Dr Hans Blix.
