Order SIPRI Yearbook 1983

SIPRI yearbook 1983 cover
Taylor & Francis, London and Philadelphia

The SIPRI Yearbook 1983 continues SIPRI's analyses of the world arms races, based on annual series of data on world military expenditure, arms production, the arms trade, and the military use of outer space. Efforts to control the arms races are described and analysed.

This Yearbook gives the full background to the crucial negotiations on nuclear weapons in Geneva—both those on intermediate nuclear weapons in Europe, and those on US and Soviet intercontinental nuclear weapons. Topical reviews are made of the UN Second Special Session on Disarmament, of developments in chemical and biological warfare, of arms build-ups and events in the South Atlantic related to the Falklands/Malvinas conflict, and of nuclear-powered satellites such as the one which malfunctioned in early 1983.
