Handbook of Applied Biosecurity for Life Science Laboratories

Biosecurity covers a broad spectrum of potential risks and threats ranging from criminal activities to bioterrorism and espionage. This handbook focuses on the laboratory related activities and basic components of applied biosecurity that are relevant to all laboratory employees. The role played by laboratory managers and principal investigators in safeguarding laboratory assets and the employees under their supervision is also highlighted.

Stockholm International Peace Research Institute: The Facts, Figures and People

During its first 25 years, SIPRI built its reputation and standing on competence, professional skills, and the collection of hard precise facts, rendering accessible, impartial information on weapon developments, arms transfers and production, as well as on arms limitations, reductions and disarmament.

This publication is a brief report on how researchers who were invited to work at SIPRI have carried out the tasks entrusted to the Institute 25 years ago.

SIPRI at 40: 1966 to 2006

This book was compiled to mark SIPRI's fortieth anniversary year. It celebrates the Institute's history through the recollections and reflections of some of those who have helped SIPRI to fulfil its mandate. It also includes extracts from past SIPRI Yearbooks and photographs from personal and official archives. As well as surveying the past, the book points forward to the issues and challenges that the Institute is likely to face over the next 40 years.

A Future Security Agenda for Europe: Report of the Independent Working Group established by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute

This report reflects the deliberations of the participants of the Independent Working Group (IWG) on a Future Security Agenda established by SIPRI. Nearly 60 participants from various regions of Europe, Russia and the United States were engaged in the work of the IWG. The intention was not to negotiate a single agreed document but to make an intellectual contribution to the ongoing debate.

Preventing Violent Conflict: The Search for Political Will, Strategies and Effective Tools

This report summarizes the proceedings and main findings of a seminar organized by the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (SIIA). The subject of this meeting, held at the Krusenberg Estate, outside Stockholm, was Preventing Violent Conflict—The Search for Political Will, Strategies and Effective Tools.
