On 10–11 February, the Research and Action for Peace (REcAP) Network, led by the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding in collaboration with SIPRI and the Danish Refugee Council convened its third regional conference in Dakar, Senegal.
The conference was held on the theme ‘Regional Cooperation and Coordination on Conflict Prevention, Peacebuilding and Prevention of Violent Extremism’. Over two days, researchers, regional experts and civil society representatives came together for a series of roundtables, interactive workshops and presentations of REcAP Network publications, which explored comparative experiences from the Lake Chad Basin and West Africa.
Among the participants were representatives of international think tanks, development partners and the European Union (EU) Delegation in Senegal, as well as local, national and regional non-governmental organizations, experts and academics.
The conference was generously funded by the EU.
About the REcAP Network
The REcAP Network is a project that seeks to establish a sustainable, inclusive and effective regional network of experts and practitioners who specialize in peacebuilding, the prevention of conflict and violent extremism in the Lake Chad Basin and West Africa. The network acts as an interactive platform for regional cooperation.
The project has been designed to respond to capacity gaps and limitations to collaboration between peacebuilding experts, policymakers and practitioners and to improve the impact, progress and sustainability of peacebuilding research, policy and practice.
