Zubaida A. Karim is a Research Assistant in the SIPRI Military Expenditure and Arms Production Programme.
She hold an MSc in Applied Social Research from Stockholm University, along with degrees in Sociology and International and Comparative Politics from the American University of Central Asia, Bishkek, Kygyzstan. Her research focuses on military spending trends, arms production, and security dynamics in the Middle East, Central and South Asia, with a particular interest in the interplay between armed conflict and arms production and spending.
Prior to joining SIPRI, Zubaida worked with Integrity Watch Afghanistan, where she led research initiatives on governance, security, anti-corruption, and aid effectiveness.
