Geneva Center for Security Policy Conference Room, 5th floor (Petale 4)
SIPRI, the Kofi Annan Foundation (KAF) and the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens will host an interactive workshop during Geneva Peace Week.
Held on 16 October, ‘Inspiring New Thinking: Environmental and Food Security Solutions’ will explore current peacebuilding practice at the nexus of food insecurity, conflict and the environment. Leveraging the findings and recommendations of the KAF Commission on Food Security and a KAF youth-led research project, the workshop will emphasize the crucial role of young people in promoting sustainable peace and make the intersection of environment, peace and food systems more accessible.
The workshop will include a panel discussion, live polls and breakout groups to facilitate an exchange of ideas. Katongo Seyuba, SIPRI Researcher, will share his expert insights based on the research on the interaction between climate change and food.

About the SIPRI Climate Change and Risk Programme
The SIPRI Climate Change and Risk Programme provides reliable insights on how climate-related security risks evolve and how they are interlinked and interact with different social, political and economic processes. SIPRI researchers also analyse how different policy organizations are responding to these risks and provide advice on conflict-sensitive adaptation, mitigation strategies and how international efforts for sustaining peace can be achieved.
