SIPRI and the Stimson Center will host a virtual event discussing the latest trends in international arms transfers.
Across the globe, weapons continue to flow to countries affected by armed conflict, often in violation of international arms embargoes and binding multilateral agreements. From Ukraine to Ethiopia, the persistence of arms transfers poses a danger to civilians suffering the effects of armed conflict, as well as an obstacle to peace for warring parties. The event follows the launch, earlier the same week, of the new data from SIPRI on international arms transfers for 2021, including new findings on weapons flows to active conflict zones.
