Luc van de Goor is the Director of Studies, Conflict, Peace and Security, at SIPRI. A historian by training, Luc has more than 25 years of work experience in the think tank and the foreign policy community. His most recent positions were head of the Conflict Research Unit and head of the research department of the Clingendael Institute.
His research background is in conflict research, with a focus on security and justice related topics (SSR/DDR, peace operations). His research focus has over the years moved into the internal-external security nexus (international organized crime, cyber, terrorism, hybrid threats). Regional attention has broadened from Africa, Southeast Asia and MENA to Europe and Asia. As an expert, he was seconded to the Dutch MFA and the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik in Berlin. He has been involved in many internationally led projects as team leader and expert.
