Yeonju Jung was a Research Assistant in the Governance and Society Programme at SIPRI. She has pursued her career in the fields of peacebuilding and development with a special focus on gender. Specialising in the women, peace and security (WPS) agenda, in SIPRI, she has conducted policy-oriented research as well as organized conference sessions at the annual Stockholm Forum on Peace and Development on the topics of inclusive peace processes.

Her recent research interest is oriented to two thematic focuses: (a) how different states approach the promotion of the WPS agenda in response to global challenges today and (b) how to seek to advance the WPS agenda with a more refined understanding of gender dynamics and inclusion in the context of peace processes and peacebuilding. She is currently conducting research on national policies and implementation of the WPS agenda—including national action plans for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325—with a special focus on emerging donors in East Asia.

Her work at SIPRI includes research on mine action such as the humanitarian and development impact of anti-vehicle mines as well as the socio-economic impact of demining.
