SIPRI is pleased to launch Annual Review 2024, which takes a retrospective look at the Institute’s activities and achievements in 2024.
In a year marked by growing militarization, geopolitical division and escalating conflicts—including in the Middle East, Sudan and Ukraine—SIPRI continued delivering on its mission by providing facts, evidence-based policy analysis and fostering dialogue conducive to a more peaceful future.
Annual Review 2024 explores SIPRI’s work across a variety of themes and topics related to peace and security, describing activities ranging from publications and commentary pieces to films and events. Topics include European security; conflict in the Middle East; global rearmament; the security implications of emerging technologies; and climate change risks; among others.
Annual Review 2024 also presents a detailed breakdown of SIPRI’s expanding global reach and impact. In 2024, SIPRI’s research was covered in 69 300 stories from global media organizations, with each major launch of SIPRI data featuring in over 6000 news articles and broadcasts within five days of its release, on average.
