The SIPRI Yearbook is a compendium of cutting-edge information and analysis on developments in armaments, disarmament and international security. SIPRI released SIPRI Yearbook 2024, the 55th edition, in June this year. Key findings are that the number and types of nuclear weapons in development have increased as states deepen their reliance on nuclear deterrence.
SIPRI is grateful to its translation partners—the Flemish Peace Institute (Vlaams Vredesinstituut), FundiPau (Fundació per la pau) and the Torino World Affairs Institute (T.wai).

About the SIPRI Yearbook
The first edition of the SIPRI Yearbook was released in 1969, with the aim of producing ‘a factual and balanced account of a controversial subject—the arms race and attempts to stop it’. Subsequent editions of the SIPRI Yearbook have gathered important data on world military spending, the arms trade and nuclear forces, among other topics. Three major SIPRI Yearbook 2024 data sets were pre-launched in 2023–24: total arms sales by the top 100 arms-producing companies (December 2023), international arms transfers (March 2024) and world military expenditure (April 2024). The SIPRI Yearbook is published by Oxford University Press. Learn more at www.sipriyearbook.org.
