2022 Stockholm Forum on Peace and Development: ‘From a Human Security Crisis Towards an Environment of Peace’

The 2022 Forum was held on 23–25 May and explored ways to enable an environment of peace in the face of converging crises. Against the backdrop of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, the Forum discussed long-term global challenges in the midst of the immediate security crisis. It asked what needs to change within the economy, institutions, governments, organizations, companies and societies to sustain the natural environment, biodiversity and human progress while sustaining peace and security according to the goals set out in Agenda 2030.

About the Stockholm Forum on Peace and Development

Held annually, the Stockholm Forum is a dialogue-driven event that provides a neutral platform for interdisciplinary exchange among members of international communities in the development, humanitarian, peacebuilding and security spheres. The discussion-led, round-table sessions—which the Forum is well known for—are developed in collaboration with partner organizations and invite active participation from stakeholders at all levels. The Stockholm Forum is co-hosted by SIPRI and the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
