On 17–18 November 2020, SIPRI hosted the fifth annual Stockholm Security Conference, held for the first time in a virtual format. Videos from all the public sessions are now available on SIPRI’s YouTube channel. The theme of this year’s conference was ‘International Cooperation: Navigating the Way Ahead’. So far, the sessions from the conference have already engaged over 3500 people from over 60 different countries.
The conference featured eight sessions that explored trends in international cooperation and implications for the future of international security and multilateralism. Thematic and regional sessions focused on nuclear arms control, techno-nationalism and the responsible use of artificial intelligence. Additional sessions focused on the role of institutions such as the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the United Nations.
