On 11 February 2025, SIPRI, in partnership with the International Organization for Migration Somalia, the Berghof Foundation and Freehand Studios, will host a hybrid roundtable in Nairobi, Kenya, to launch a new comic book on storytelling, youth and environmental peacebuilding in Somalia.

Titled ‘Youth! Rise for a Greener Future’, the comic explores the critical connections between climate change, environmental degradation, displacement and conflict; and illustrates how young people in Somalia are driving solutions that contribute to peacebuilding and resilience in their communities.

This comic was made possible with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia, and with funding from the European Union Foreign Policy Instrument and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
