Rafael is a Research Assistant in the Governance of Artificial Intelligence Programme at SIPRI. He is involved in the review of AI-related news, and he performs smaller research tasks for projects focused on military or civilian applications of AI.
Rafael has a background in economics and political science, and has worked in a variety of fields, including finance, diplomacy and economic modelling. In recent years he has taken part in a variety of AI governance research projects, with a particular focus on impacts in the Global South.
