Abeer Ahmad

Abeer is a Research Assistant in the SIPRI Climate Change and Risk Programme. Her research is focused on exploring the intersection between health policy and peacebuilding in emergency situations and areas affected by fragility and conflict, with a current emphasis on improving health and climate resilience.

Prior to joining SIPRI, Abeer was a board member of the Swedish Network for International Health. She completed her graduate thesis with a focus on analysing Sida’s development assistance for gender and health as a sub-study with the Expert Group for Aid Studies (EBA). She also conducted a comparative analysis of health policy implementation and disease burden in the Middle East and African region with the Swedish Institute for Health Economics (IHE). Further, Abeer served as a programme manager and trainer for several humanitarian and development organisations where she worked on poverty reduction, women´s empowerment and social cohesion.
