Abeer Ahmad is a Research Assistant with the SIPRI Peace and Development research area. Her research focuses on peacebuilding, health policy and development in conflict settings.
Prior to joining SIPRI, Abeer completed her graduate thesis focusing on the analysis of Sida’s development assistance for gender and health as a sub-study with the Expert Group for Aid Studies (EBA). After her graduation, she conducted a comparative analysis of health policy implementation and disease burden in the Middle East and African region with the Swedish Institute for Health Economics (IHE). She was also a programme manager and trainer in several organisations, where she worked on poverty reduction, women empowerment, and social cohesion. Additionally, she was a board member of the Swedish Network for International Health, and she is a member of the Swedish Institute Network for Future Global Leaders.
