EU embargo on Sierra Leone (non-governmental forces)

In June 1998, following UN Security Council resolution 1171, the EU imposed an arms embargo on Sierra Leone (Common Position 98/409/CFSP) which did not apply to arms supplied to the Government of Sierra Leone, subject to examination by the UN.

In October 2010, following the lifting of the UN sanctions related to Sierra Leone in September 2010 the EU sanctions were lifted (Council Decision 14864/10).
