Sigrún Rawet

Sigrún Rawet was the Deputy Director of SIPRI until August 2020. Before joining SIPRI in September 2018, she was Head of the Development and Humanitarian Section at the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations (UN) in New York. Prior to this position, she was the Head of the Conflict Division at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Sigrún Rawet has held various positions in the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs including in the cabinet of two Ministers for International Development Cooperation and in the Africa Department. Sigrún Rawet also served as the advisor to the chair of the Secretary General’s Peacebuilding Fund 2012–15. Before joining the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, she worked for the European Commission at its regional Delegation in Mauritius as well as for a civil society organization in Kenya.

Sigrún Rawet has worked on peace and conflict, development, humanitarian, peace operations mediation, Women Peace and Security , Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights and climate and security issues throughout her career. She has also worked extensively with the European union and the United Nations including the funds and programmes, specialized agencies, OCHA , CERF and the Peacebuilding Fund  and the World Bank.
