Hyunji Kim was an intern with SIPRI’s China and Asia Security Programme and worked on a project about China’s foreign policy in the neighbouring region. In parallel, her individual research mainly focused on East Asian security and foreign policy. Hyunji used to work in the business sector, and it was relatively recent that she has taken interest in research in the political sphere. As a master’s candidate, she is carrying out research on Korean foreign policy in regional cooperation during the Asian financial crisis.
