No European Union country remains unaffected by firearms violence. Firearms cause widespread death and bodily harm in the EU; the use of these weapons also spreads fear, and undermines citizens’ sense of security. Over the past few years, tragic gun attacks have repeatedly drawn media attention. Firearm violence is a cross-border phenomenon and a common challenge for all.
