SIPRI co-hosts climate and security event in the DRC ahead of COP27

SIPRI, in collaboration with the governments of Germany and Sweden and the German Council on Foreign Relations, hosted a side event at COP27’s preparatory meeting (PRECOP27) in Kinshasa on 5 October. The event addressed the conflict situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and its links to climate security.

SIPRI and its partner organize community dialogues in Nineveh province

In September, the Al-Tahreer Association for Development, a local partner to SIPRI in Iraq, facilitated the second round of issue-based community dialogues in Nineveh province. These community dialogues—of which the first round took place in June and the third round will commence next month—focus on issues of common concern and mutual interest to different communities.

SIPRI to co-host intensive course on WMD non-proliferation and disarmament pathways

SIPRI and the  European Union Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Consortium (EUNPDC) are pleased to host an intensive introductory course on the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), mechanisms to control their further spread and pathways to disarmament.

The executive summary of SIPRI’s flagship policy report Environment of Peace: Security in a New Era of Risk has now been published in all six official languages of the United Nations.

New video series—Perceptions on food security and peace in South Sudan

Today, SIPRI is pleased to launch a new video series on perceptions on food security in South Sudan and efforts to improve prospects for peace. The interviews were conducted as part of the wider knowledge partnership between SIPRI and the World Food Programme (WFP), which is aimed to strengthen WFP’s contribution to improving prospects for peace in the countries where it works.
