Cybersecurity

Networked information and communications technologies (ICTs) have become an essential part of everyday life. The societal benefits of these technologies are beyond dispute. It is also evident, however, that these technologies generate new kinds of risks for international, national and human security.

SIPRI seeks to contribute to a better understanding of what these security risks are perceived to be and how states, private companies and international organizations may respond.

This project monitors the impact of the securitization and militarization of cyberspace on international peace and security; the rules and norms guiding the behaviour of states in cyberspace; the balance of considerations for societal resilience, national security and human security in the design and implementation of national cybersecurity policies.
