On 8–11 November, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) will convene the sixth annual Stockholm Security Conference. The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Battlefields of the Future: Trends of Conflict and Warfare in the 21st Century’.
On 21 June Chibeze Ezekiel, a panellist for SIPRI’s Environment of Peace initiative, briefed a virtual meeting of the Group of Friends on Climate and Security at the United Nations in New York.
On 29 June, SIPRI hosted an online briefing to coincide with the launch of the report ‘Autonomous Weapon Systems and International Humanitarian Law: Identifying Limits and the Required Type and Degree of Human–Machine Interaction’.
On 17 May, SIPRI’s Dr Vincent Boulanin participated in a virtual United Nations Security Council Arria-formula meeting entitled ‘The Impact of Emerging Technologies on International Peace and Security’.
